Sarah Hawkshaw is an up and coming Irish international tennis player and Trinity College Sport Scholar.Sarah picked up a tennis racket for the first time in Skerries, Dublin at the tender age of 6, and since then, she hasn’t looked back. Little did she know at the time, the sport she fell in love with as a child was later to become a lifelong passion. At the age of 12, she was lucky to cross paths with tennis legend, Novak Djokovic. When she had the opportunity to meet him and watch him train, she was inspired by his humble persona, incredible talent, and commitment to his craft. The chance meeting motivated her to pursue her own tennis dream and become the best version of herself along the way.In 2023, she officially embarked on her professional career after years of dedication and training with top coaches in Ireland, Spain, and most recently, the tennis “mecca”, Miami. She achieved her first world ranking (International Tennis Federation), being in the top 1500 female tennis players, and her place in Ireland’s Top 10.Sarah’s journey is just beginning; her focus now is pursuing her ranking ambitions and highlighting Ireland even more on the global tennis map. She feels there is an opportunity to create more access to tennis in Ireland and hopes that by sharing her journey, she can inspire more interest in the sport that has transformed her life for the better. Sarah has also obtained her tennis coaching qualification, and in the future, she would like to support younger generations in their pursuits. She is proud to be an ambassador of NDA especially because of the fact that it’s a homegrown Irish family business, and the activewear has become an integral part of her training and competition toolkit. Additionally, the “get up and move” philosophy is something she truly believes in, whether it’s through sport, the gym or by being more active in your daily life, the positive physical and mental effects are undeniable and she admires the work NDA is doing to promote this healthy way of life.Alongside her sporting goals, Sarah is passionate about education and she is actively pursuing an academic career as a Geoscience undergraduate at Trinity College Dublin.
