Stephanie Roche is an Irish International Footballer with 55 Caps and 13 Goals. Stephanie has had a decorated football career to date. She first came to prominence playing for Peamount United in the WNL. Stephanie was a 2x Golden Boot winner and 2x All Star as well as playing in The UEFA Champions League where Peamount were the first ever Irish side to reach the knockout stage where they played French giants PSG over two legs. Stephanie is best known for her wonder goal for Peamount vs Wexford that ultimately saw her finish runner up in FIFA’s Puskas Award for Best Goal.
After moving from The WNL in Ireland to play professional football Stephanie played in 4 of the 5 highest rated leagues in Women’s football. ATTP Albi (France Ligue 1) Houston Dash (USA NWSL) Sunderland (England WSL) and Florentia (Italy Serie A). As well as playing professionally away from Ireland. Stephanie has been an integral part of the Irish Women’s National Team for nearly 12 years. Some highlights including winning goals against Kazakhstan, Slovakia and Costa Rica as well as a hat trick in a World Cup Qualifier against Montenegro.
After a devastating injury while playing for Ireland in 2018 Stephanie embarked on a long road to recovery and returned to play with Peamount in 2020. She helped the team secure the League and Cup double. Scoring twice in the FAI Cup Final win against Cork City and being named The Player of the Match. Stephanie will once again be a big part of the Peamount Squad for the upcoming 2021 season as they try retain their League and Cup titles and compete once again in the Women’s Champions League.
